About Soft Play in Barnsley
Barnsley's soft play scene is punching above its weight for a South Yorkshire market town — a growing selection of indoor play centres serves local families across the borough, from the town centre to the surrounding pit villages and suburbs. With the area's commitment to family life and the unmistakable Yorkshire weather, soft play is a practical staple rather than a treat.
Venues in and around Barnsley range from commercial soft play centres near the town's retail parks — including the Alhambra Centre area and the Cortonwood retail park — to smaller community venues and play cafés serving individual neighbourhoods. The area around Penistone Road and further north toward Royston and Cudworth has seen some newer venues open over recent years.

Weekday morning sessions are the quietest and cheapest option. School holidays — particularly the six-week summer break — are the busiest periods, and weekend booking is advisable.
